Everyone Gets Card Games These Days, Including Ever, Jane
Everyone's got a card game nowadays. Whether it's a full-on card game based on a MOBA, a card game inspired by the card game in a role-playing game, or a card game in a board game that's really a shooter, it seems like a requirement these days that every MMO-ish game must include a card game. Was there a law passed and we missed it?
That brings us to our annual update on Ever, Jane, the Jane Austen-inspired role-playing game set in 19th century England. We've talked about it for years, but now -- with the rise of dedicated role-playing servers for all sorts of games, from survival games to Grand Theft Auto -- it doesn't seem as silly an idea as when we first learned about it in 2013. It's currently in open beta and still plans to launch with a free-to-play option, so we'll give it some love from time to time.
In any case, today's update adds -- you guessed it -- cards to the Ever, Jane open beta. Don't worry, you won't be playing Magic: The Gathering or Yu-Gi-Oh! in Merry Olde England. Instead, the choices are whist, bridge, hearts, and spades, using plain old, normal decks of 52 cards. Though one does wonder: How many tricks could a Blue-Eyes White Dragon take? Also, is there a /tableflip emote?
You can read about Ever, Jane's card games here and the rest of open beta update five -- which also includes new furniture accessories, updates to the marketplace, and improved servants' areas -- here. Tally-ho!
