EverQuest Next: Landmark Roadmap Leads to New Adventure
EverQuest Next: Landmark will be seeing some new features in a series of upcoming phases, as the game continues its Alpha period. Director of Development Dave Georgeson guided players on the EQNL website, using what he calls the “EQNL Roadmap”.
The first phase of additions will focus on building community, as the first improvements will be made to player communication and support for cooperative building. They will also be devising a fast-travel system for quickly getting to key areas, such as your claim, the hub, or even to a friend to check out what they are working on. The idea is that by keeping teleportation between players, community can more easily be built without sacrificing the element of exploration.
The second phase is going to introduce a number of PvE elements, while also still putting more emphasis on community with the addition of guilds, and a blueprint auction house referred to as the Player Studio. As health will be introduced, players will be forced to take how they wander a little more seriously, as dying will come with some untold disadvantages. All of these features on top of basic combat, treasure chests and achievements are sure to be a game changer for the stagnated builders.
EQNL will obviously be seeing a number of phases after this, as the games mechanics and concepts seem to grow more and more every day.
