EverQuest II Producer’s Letter Teases 2022's First Game Update "Coffers And Coffins"
The update will drop in just a week.
On April 12, EverQuest II fans are getting a shiny new update. Okay, perhaps "shiny" isn't the right word, seeing as it involves things like giant spider monsters. Announced in the latest Producer's Letter and titled "Coffers and Coffins", the update is the 119th to be added to the game – and the first for 2022. It will add new content for all types of players, season 4 of Overseer, and some changes to the Overseer mini-game. There will also be new heroic dungeons, raids, and other content.
If you want to get in on the action as soon as possible, there's good news. Open beta begins today. In fact, players can even get a taste of the 64-bit servers and client conversion as it is being tested on those same beta servers at the same time. That said, it won't be added to the live servers at the same time as the game update. The devs are currently looking at July for that.
Speaking of servers, on May 24 the EQII team will be releasing a new Time-Locked Expansion server. This will be the second and will have a Free Trade ruleset, just like Kaladim.
In additional news, several of the game’s summer events are getting updates. Tingerfest, Scorches Sky Celebration, and Oceansfull Festival are all getting some love. A bit of that love consists of a new heroic dungeon for each of the three events and the rest are the new rewards players will be able to snag as they explore the new content.
Finally, the team has added new LGBTQIA+ patchwork critters to the game. Players can get their hand on these minions just in time for Pride Month, on June 3.
