Et Tu, B.R.U.T.E? Fortnite Nerfs Controversial Mech
In the end, all the charts in the world couldn't counter player frustration. Despite saying that Fortnite: Battle Royale's mech, the B.R.U.T.E. wouldn't be getting nerfed last week, Epic Games did just that yesterday. Nobody could Caesar that coming!
Epic Games spelled out the "balance adjustments" in a blog post. Most of them are simple numerical adjustments -- decreases in rate of rocket fire and spawn rate and an increase in dash cooldown -- but one of the biggest changes is that the B.R.U.T.E. will no longer collect materials when it stomps structures. That change is not yet live and "should roll out shortly following the other changes."
Two positive changes for the B.R.U.T.E. are a decreased material cost for the gunner's overshield (200 to 75) and an increase in hit points (1,000 to 1,250). In addition, the Junk Rift will be disabled for this weekend's FNCS tournament and Arena playlists.
