Epic Games (Vaguely) Announces Paragon
Brace yourselves -- another free-to-play arena battler is coming. We think. On both those fronts.
Epic Games, which is already hard at work on Fortnite, is adding another title to its stable of games, named Paragon. There's not much up on the website besides the promise to "Discover a new hero each week and unlock unique in-game items" and a look at the first hero, the dual-pistol-wielding Twinblast. No, there's nothing wrong with the sound on that video; there isn't any. Other heroes coming throughout the next month include Steel, Sparrow, Dekker, and Grux.
It's not a lot to go on, but the MMOBomb staff is betting on this being another arena battler in the long line of recently announced games, such as Overwatch, Gigantic, BattleCry, Paladins, and LawBreakers -- made by former Gears of War developer Cliff Bleszinski, not to be confused with former Gears of War developer Epic Games. And, like all those titles except Overwatch (sort of), we're guessing it'll be free-to-play because duh.
What are your initial thoughts on Paragon?
UDPATE: We can glean a little more information about Paragon by searching the Epic Games Career page. The company is looking for a Gameplay Programmer with experience in "Multiplayer," "PvP," and "Player progression" systems; a Concept Artist who can create "modern, forward-looking characters"; a Senior Systems Designer with experience in "shooters, MMOs, RPGs, or RTS games"; and an AI Programmer, curious for a PvP game. They're also looking for a UI programmer with "Experience working with Xbox Live, PSN or both," which could mean the game is headed for consoles.
