Epic Announces Fortnite Film Festival And Brings The Digital Popcorn
Okay, before any of y'all get excited about creating your own Fortnite fan films and submitting them, that's not what this is. (Although it would be neat.) Today, Epic Games announced the Short Nite Film Festival. This festival, which kicks off in just four days, brings "acclaimed animated short films" to Fortnite -- or rather to Fortnite's Party Royale, where they will be shown on the big movie screen.
The short films will run for about 30 minutes and then play on loop for 24 hours. This means that everyone will have plenty of time to take part in the festival. Of course, if you're too busy in Battle Royale, you can watch from there if you like, via the Picture-in-Picture. Of curse, you'll miss out on the whole sitting with your friends while chowing down on virtual popcorn thing. (Yes, there is virtual popcorn.)
While Epic has not listed the titles of the films being showcased, they did mention that some of them did receive Academy Award nominations for Best Animated Short Film. You may actually recognize some of them in the trailer below.
For those wondering about accessibility options with his event, the shorts that have dialogue can be watched with subtitles in the player's language of choice. Also, a side note for creators... Short Nite isn't intended to be recorded and shared elsewhere, so VOD's or streams will be taken down.
