Enlisted's "Rzhev" Update Not Only Adds An Iconic WWII Battle, But Also Literally Sheds New Light On The World
New graphic improvements come down to enhancing what light can do on PC and the PS5.
When it comes to the more notable battles in Russia during World War II, usually the first one that comes up is Germany's failed attempt to take Stalingrad. Maybe occasionally you hear about the Battle of Moscow. However, the Battle(s) of Rzhev is certainly a battle of import, and things were a bit crazy there. The Germans really wanted to keep the city to support the Blitzkrieg. The Russians really wanted it back and, being a bit on the back foot, called the place the "meat grinder."
That catches you up on the history, now let's look at the present as Enlisted has now brought that battle to their WWII first-person shooter. The creation of this map pays particular attention to some known landmarks like the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ, the city hall, the central market, the shopping area, and the steep cliffs to the left bank of the Volga river.
Of course, new weapons are added, too. In fact, there's a whole list of those additions on the official site. What's maybe most interesting on this front is that radio operators can now call in artillery strikes.
The most noticeable change in the Rzhev patch is a graphical update. No, they haven't "remastered" the entire game or anything. However, the team has reworked how light works both indoors and outdoors. The result is that the PC and PS5 versions of Enlisted look so much better. Textures pop and even dark caves look better. None of these improvements come at the expense of performance, though, so don't worry about that.
