Enad Global 7 Cancels Marvel MMO, Shifts Money Back To Existing Library
Sometimes it’s better to keep doing what you know.
If you were waiting to see what Daybreak Games could do with the Marvel IP, stop waiting. Whatever that project was going to look like, it’s not going to look like that anymore as Daybreak’s parent company Enad Global 7 has decided to cancel the project and shift the funds that were going into its development into the company’s existing library (and some unnamed projects, apparently). That means the company now has about $51 million USD to use in improving titles like Lord of the Rings Online and DC Universe Online. That’s good news for fans of those games.
For those waiting on the Marvel MMO, however, it’s not great news. Or, is it? There are likely other companies that would be happy to work on a Marvel game. It’s possible Disney could strike a deal with one of them and wind up with something better than whatever Daybreak had in the works. It will be interesting to find out what is going to happen to any assets that already exist from the canceled project – if anything at all.
