Embers Adrift Dropping The Required Subscription As Of Today
The game is now buy-to-play with an option to subscribe.
Embers Adrift’s optional subscription model launched today offering players the option to simply buy the MMORPG and play without needing to pay more or to pay a sub and get perks. With subs or without, all players will have access to the full game world, character roles, and specializations. They’ll also have the same inventory space in adventuring and gathering bags. That’s where things become different, however.
Non-sub players will have a single active character slot, standard bank storage, emote access, portrait selection, and chat channels. On the other hand, subbed players will have 5 active character slots, expanded bank storage, emote access, portrait selection, and access to a subscriber-only chat channel. They’ll also get their own special titles, a portable crafting station, and an Ember Ring healing enhancement bonus that extends to all nearby players.
The Embers Adrift team emphasizes that this helps support them and their work, but they seem to understand that not everyone will want to pay for that and are also offering merchandise and a soundtrack, for those that might want something a bit more tangible.
