Elyon Will Be Buy-To-Play, Launching In Korea In December, NA/Europe In 2H 2021
Are you still excited for Elyon? If so, are you so excited that you want to pay to play it? If the answer to the first question is "yes" and the second is "no," then I've got some bad news for you, because Kakao and Krafton have confirmed that the former Ascent: Infinite Realm will be buy-to-play at launch.
The news comes from a recent media session that was held for press in Korea, where the payment model was confirmed, in bold lettering, while founder's packs were also announced for sale. Those have both regular (after launch) and discounted (before launch) prices of 19,800/9,900 South Korean won, 82,500/29,700 KRW, and 220,000/69,300 KRW. In U.S. dollars, that's $17.64/$8.82, $73.51/$26.46, and $196.02/$61.74. Those secondary prices are actually surprisingly decent, though there is naturally no guarantee that the same pricing will extend to the North American launch.
Speaking of which, Elyon will launch on PC in Korea on Dec. 10 and in North America and Europe in the second half of 2021, according to MMO Culture. Oddly, the information and charts he provides don't match up with what's on Kakao's IR page, though they certainly look legit and I don't have any reason to doubt them. Still, as mentioned, take any release date announcement with a grain of salt, especially in this turbulent year.
