Another One Bites The Dust: EA DICE No Longer Developing Hazard Zone For Battlefield 2042
The mode "hasn’t found the right home" in the game.
Battlefield 2042 is (sort of) losing another mode. Following the removal of the 128-player Breakthrough mode, EA DICE announced that the company will no longer be developing content for the game’s Hazard Zone. This doesn't mean the mode won't be there at all. Whatever is there currently will remain, but there will be no development of the mode for future content.
Ahead of the Season 1 launch next month, learn about what we've been working on for #Battlefield 2042.

For some players, this may be sad news, but based on what the developers had to say, it doesn't draw enough players to keep the mode around. In fact, the developers said they’d had "high hopes" for the mode, but that they were also "the first to hold [their] hands up and acknowledge that it hasn’t found the right home in Battlefield 2042." The team believes their time would be better spent on the modes the most people spend the most time on. Honestly, that seems fair. Why waste resources on something hardly anyone touches when you could use those same resources to make what people do play even better?
That’s not to say that there isn’t something of interest in Hazard Zone. The four-player mode tasked players with tracking down items located throughout the map while fighting off other groups. On its own, or in another game, it might have done well, so it's entirely possible that DICE’s statement about it not having the right home in 2042 may mean they'll be trying to find it a home elsewhere. Only time will tell.
