Dune: Awakening Breaks Down The Lack Of Early Access And Details Monetization As Pre-Orders Go Live
We've also got the full list of PC system requirements.
In a shade less that two months you'll finally be able to start exploring (and trying to survive) the sands of Arrakis in Funcom's Dune: Awakening. The survival game still has its character creator up if you want to lock that in, and you can run the benchmark to see how the game will perform on your PC. Ironically, we really didn't have full system requirements when that benchmark launched, but now we do...and we've got monetization info, too.
Creative Director Joel Bylos appears in a new video talking about the game's plans to fund itself. First, pre-orders are now live and there's 3 different options to choose from. The base game is $49.99. A Deluxe Edition and Ultimate Edition come in at $69.99 and $89.99 respectively. Both of these offerings come with 5 days of head-start access. You'll be able to hit the desert on May 15th ahead of the launch on the 20th. The Deluxe and Ultimate bundles also include season pass content and some extras broken down below.
As for future monetization, Bylos advises that launch will not be early access, it will be a full launch. Also, there will be no subscription option for Dune: Awakening. Major free updates expanding the game's story and content will be released, but there will also be optional DLC on offer. You'll be able to buy these DLCs in bundled "Season Passes," but they'll also be available individually should you decide that works better for you.
Pre-orders are now live if you're ready to shell out some cash.
