Dual Universe Launches Ares Update Less Than A Month After Putting It On The Roadmap
This is a PvP-focused update for you fans of the pew-pew.
Dual Universe developer Novaquark may have only revealed plans for the Ares update earlier this month, but that doesn’t mean you have to wait for it – any longer than today, anyway. The PvP-centric update is a bit of a companion to the 0.26 Apollo update and includes four all-new features as well as a laundry list of improvements.
In the area of new features, one of the new PvP additions includes “core combat stress”, which gives weapons a new way to bring down their opponents. If you want to combat that, you’ll probably want to look at another new feature, or improved feature, depending on how you look at it. But the devs consider it new, Shields v2. These new shields now have adjustable resistance and venting – which means players have a say in how they work.
As far as improvements go, warp drives have been given a going-over based on player feedback. Warp speed has been reduced. Cooldown time has been increased and other tweaks have been made. Another improvement is the docking and boarding revamp, which allows players to control the boarding on their ship.
Those of you who would like a deeper look into these changes and additions have a few options available to you. First, there’s the dev blog that covers the warp and docking & boarding changes. Second, there are the patch notes. If that’s not for you. Watch the shiny video below.
