Dragon's Dogma MMO Resurfaces As Fan-Made Project With English Translation That Could "Take Years To Finish"
A small team of fans are reviving this abandoned game for the West.
Dragon's Dogma is a cult classic hidden in the weeds of several phenomenal games on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Many had forgotten about it until Capcom announced last year the series would finally see a proper sequel during its 10th anniversary.
In the case of their abandoned MMO of the unique IP, Capcom closed it in 2019 and it was never released outside of Japan. That is, until a small group of dedicated fans took it upon themselves to revive the MMO with an English translation attached to bring it out West.
The fan-made project of Dragon's Dogma Online aims to have private servers with a working multiplayer system. On their Discord, you can check out the team's current progress, but the expectation is that it could "take years to finish."
As of this writing, the team has no plans/roadmap in place, and many bugs and unfinished features are issues plaguing the available testing server. The fan team also states clearly they "WILL NOT accept any offers of donation" since Capcom would not hesitate to shut them down (even though they could now if they wanted) if it takes off in revenue.
For the time being, interested fans can join their Discord to keep up with progress, but they also will post videos of their milestones. You can view one of them below:
