Destiny 2 Leak Drama

If there’s one thing developers hate, it’s having update details leaked ahead of time. Whether that’s because they don’t want the surprise ruined, they don’t want players complaining about something that’s going to happen, or because it can have a negative impact on their profits, they’re just not cool with it. Bungie, over time, has proven again and again that they’re willing to go after bad actors – sometimes even suing them.

The most recent incident involving their game Destiny 2, involves leaks about the upcoming Season of the Deep update. The leaks, which include Season 21’s dungeon weapons, were apparently traced back to a Twitch Ambassador who participated in a Summit where Season 21 details were shared. The content creator, Ekuegan was determined to be the source due to images in the leaks including the toolbar on the desktop the images were taken from. Bungie recognized the desktop layout as belonging to Ekuegan, whose desktop they saw at the summit as well as on his Twitch streams.

Ekuegan has denied the accusations, stating that there is no good reason for him to engage in such activity. Some, however, believe he might have done it for clout. What that clout means when the images are released anonymously and the end result of being banned by Bungie when caught is up for debate.

That said, Bungie is still holding Ekuegan responsible. As they see it, even if he didn’t leak the images himself, he did fail to prevent them from being obtained by someone else. So, he’s still responsible. On the upside for Ekuegan, at least Bungie isn’t suing him.

yep regardless its his fault, however if bungie really wants these leaks to stop happening they are going to need to crack down on this and start getting serious with their punishments. Also I think "there is no good reason for him to engage in such activity" is such a funny and purposeless excuse. no one ever needs a "good" reason to do anything, they just need a reason.
