Destiny 2 Introduces New PvE Activity Onslaught, And PvP Strike Team Provides Update On Weapons Sandbox
This Week In Destiny also includes a Ghostbusters collaboration, Guardian Games All-Stars standings, the Bungie Bounty event, and a Guardian Games Cup update.
This Week In Destiny features the introduction of the new PvE activity Onslaught and an update on PvP Strike Team weapons sandbox in the shooter.
Destiny 2: Into the Light Developer Livestream #1 shed light on the introduction of the new PvE activity called Onslaught. This activity requires three players to defend the Last City against escalating waves of enemies associated with the Witness, with rewards awaiting those who are successful. Players must strategically deploy defenses, upgrade them, and complete bonus objectives to succeed in repelling the enemy onslaught and defeating bosses.
Onslaught entails defending one of three locations from waves of enemies, each culminating in a boss battle aboard a Pyramid ship. Players accumulate Scraps from defeated enemies to purchase and enhance defensive structures, crucial for withstanding the escalating threat. There are bonus objectives, too, that offer additional challenges and rewards, with increased difficulty and additional locations as players advance through waves.
The PvP Strike Team provided an update on adjustments made to the weapons sandbox in response to observations following the 7.3.5 changes, particularly addressing the dominance of certain Auto Rifles in mid-range engagements — specifically Precision Auto Rifles. They implemented changes to balance gameplay, including reducing the base damage of Precision Auto Rifles by 5% and increasing the base damage of Precision Hand Cannons by 6%. Additionally, the team mitigated the impact of flinch on Primary weapons by reducing the flinch taken by 15%, aiming to enhance the experience of players relying on critical hits in combat situations.
Destiny 2: Into the Light promises to deliver further updates and rewards, with upcoming livestreams scheduled to unveil Brave Arsenal weapons, a new social space, and Destiny 1-inspired armor. Lightstream #2 arrives March 26.
In other news, Bungie collaborated with the Ghostbusters franchise to bring iconic in-game accessories, including the Slimer Exotic Ghost Shell, a Garraka-inspired Exotic Sparrow, and an Ecto-1-themed Exotic ship. There’s also an update on the standings for the recent Guardian Games All-Stars, the Bungie Bounty event, and updates on the Guardian Games Cup leaderboard.
