Destiny 2 Director Joe Blackburn To Step Down, Tyson Green To Take The Reins
Blackburn will “pass the torch” during the End-to-End playtest of The Final Shape.
Destiny 2’s next expansion, The Final Shape, isn’t due to launch for a few more months, but its impending launch brings more changes than just updating the shooter game. Earlier this week, Game Director Joe Blackburn discussed plans to step down from his position and move on to “a new adventure outside the walls of Bungie”. According to his tweets, Blackburn will use the upcoming End-to-End playtest to “pass the torch” to Tyson Green who will take on the Game Director role. Green is known for his work on Halo PvP, the Exotic weapons in Destiny 1, and more.
Blackburn's plans were further confirmed today in the most recent This Week in Destiny post, where the team shared a special thank you for all of his work and introduced Green as the game’s next director. The post includes a note from Green discussing his time at Bungie.
Of course, the This Week in Destiny post contains other news, including a discussion on the Fireteam Finder, general updates, and more.
