Deep Dive Into Mordred And Running Through Walls Ahead Of The Arthurian God Coming To SMITE 2 Alpha
Mordred gets a little tunnel visioned sometimes...but it lets him walk through walls, so there's that.
Last week we talked about the new Arthurian god coming to SMITE 2 sometime in the 24/7 alpha that starts next week on August 27th. Mordred is, as usual, a bit miffed at his sometimes uncle, sometimes father, Arthur. Getting stabbed in the heart and coming back from the dead will do that to a person.
In fact, his anger sometimes leads to a bit of tunnel vision. Interestingly, the MOBA's team is kind of taking that to heart in Mordred's design. They're also splitting Mordred's desire for strength and intelligence into dual factors in the god's abilities.
In a very cool video, shown below, the Titan Forge squad breaks down the importance of strength and intelligence when it comes to how you want to actually play Mordred. Want to use brute force over anything else? Cool, stat up in strength and the sword in your right hand, Morning (Mourning?), and you'll wail away on foes. Clarent, the sword in Mordred's left hand, is the thinner and smarter sword. Stack intelligence to up the ante on abilities using Clarent. This also opens up the possibility of interesting hybrid builds.
Mordred's ultimate comes in the same spirit as Arthur's. There's a "regular" and a "supercharged" version of the ultimate and the supercharged version opens up a feature SMITE hasn't done before. Mordred can focus in on what's in front of him, at the expense of seeing things around him, and literally "tunnel vision" his way through all obstacles to unleash a heavy barrage of damage. This includes literally running through walls.
It looks awesome, but we'll have to wait until the 24/7 alpha to actually try it out.
