Dead By Daylight's Roots Of Dread Update Is Now Available, Brings Monstrous New Killer And Veteran Survivor
Boogeyman levels of creepy here.
After developer Behaviour Interactive revealed Dead by Daylight's new trailer for the upcoming "Roots of Dread" update, fans have patiently waited to hear more news about its creepy boogeyman monster and veteran survivor Haddie Kaur. Today marks the day of its release in Dead by Daylight, and there's plenty to unpack, including a new map and cosmetics for players to gain.
The Dredge is the newest Killer to step into The Fog. For the first time, it's a bonafide monster-like Killer that can teleport itself throughout the Map to surprise unsuspecting Survivors hiding in lockers or use the Nightfall skill to cloak the vision of all Survivors in darkness. Creative Director Dave Richard for Dead by Daylight expressed that "the unease at the sight of The Dredge and fear that strikes where we feel safer" was what his team wanted to tap into for this particular Killer, allowing it to really play with the minds of Survivor players.
Speaking of Survivors, the latest addition is Haddie Kaur from The Archives. Richard explains that "she's from our world but has always had a foot in the other," coming into The Fog as someone who isn't a stranger to fear or Killers. She has the ability to see "bleeds," which are "pockets of evil that create holes between The Entity's Realm and our world." Also, compared to other Survivors in the game, she is revealed as "one of the only Survivors truly equipped to face off Killers."
Outside of the new arrivals coming with the Roots of Dread update, there's a new map called "The Garden of Joy" available now. Also, a very rare cosmetic outfit is released for The Dredge as part of the "Malicious Mannequin Collection." The cosmetic "adorns the bodiless Killer with doll-like skulls." There are several other cosmetic collections coming throughout the summer, which you can read up on the Dead by Daylight website alongside the announcement.
