Dead By Daylight Devs Say 'Goodbye' To The Grind
And say 'Hello' to easier to earn perks.
During the survival horror game Dead by Daylight’s 6th Anniversary Broadcast, they made an announcement of a new progression system and meta-shifting perk overhaul to hopefully cut back on the deadly grind and to “shake up the current meta, provide alternatives, and make perks easier to earn. “ While these changes were first brought up in May, fans can finally enjoy them as these updates hit Dead By Daylight’s public test build as of yesterday, June 29.
The developers' update explains all the changes like unlocking perks, expanding prestige, the shrine of secrets, and more. For a basic comparison, in the system before, players had to reach level 40 on a given character to unlock all their teachable perks then they had to find those perks in the Bloodwebs of every other character. The developers explain that to unlock all the new perks before a new chapter is released, players would need to play an average of 4.1 hours every day. With the latest changes, that time dropped to an average of 1.01 hours a day. This makes it the single largest reduction to grind that the team has ever made, cutting it by roughly 75%.
Also revealed in Dead by Daylight's 6th Anniversary Broadcast was the game’s next chapter, Roots of Dread, as well as the Hooked on You Dead by Daylight dating sim you never knew you wanted.
