Dead By Daylight’s 2v8 Mode Returns With A Bunch Of Improvements
The mode should be more balanced going forward.
Players of Behaviour Interactive’s horror game Dead by Daylight really seem to enjoy the recently implemented 2v8 mode. That doesn’t mean it hasn’t been without its issues. With the number of players in a match being doubled, it’s a bit chaotic and can quickly swing in favor of one group or the other early on in the game. Certain mechanics – such as cages disappearing in the middle of survivors attempting to rescue someone trapped in them – have been a bit frustrating for players as well.
Behavior has addressed these issues and players will see the changes as the mode returns to the game. In fact, the changes to this mode alone were enough that rather than be included in the regular notes for the update, they got their own set. Going forward, cages will no longer disappear when a survivor is near enough to attempt a rescue – whether a killer is nearby or not. That said, when there is a killer nearby the unhook action will take less time to execute, diminishing danger for both parties.
Generators have been changed up a bit, too. This is to balance things a bit more between sides. As more generators are completed, it swings things in favor of the survivors. Repair speeds will slow down by 1% with each generator completed. They’ll increase by 1% for each cage state. At the same time generator auras will only be visible to killers within 64 meters of them, unless they’re being repaired by two or more survivors. Keep this in mind when deciding how to go about repairing them.
The update also adds new maps that have been adjusted to accommodate the 2v8 mode and introduces three new killers to it as well. Details on each of the killers as well as class changes are available in the notes.
