Daybreak Revisits The Planetside 2 Roadmap, Things Appear To Be Going Well
Things appear to be progressing well.
Since we're about to enter a new season on Earth, Daybreak has decided it's the perfect time to take a look at the Planetside 2 roadmap and discuss what's been done, what's being done, and what's to come.
In a blog post on the game's site, the devs address what they've been doing to fix connection errors and networking issues. The former is attributed to a player's computer being unable to connect to the server – despite everything on their end being just fine. The only actual fix is waiting and trying again, but the devs have another semi-solution in place where they shut down "broken gateways" when a certain amount of connections get stuck. As for the network issues, those seem to be tied to a specific ISP and required some routing changes to fix.
As for the actual roadmap, the developers have been knocking things out. According to the post, almost everything they intended to do in the first part of the year has been completed and the Codex and Main Nav Menu updates will arrive on May 4. Now they're working on the next round of changes, including expanding underwater combat, adjusting squads, and finally providing players a way to gift items to each other.
Apparently, there have been some non-roadmap-related updates as well, including ramps that lead to the top of Trident Relays and new cosmetics. These additions are based on player input and can be read about in full on the game's site.
