Dauntless Developer Phoenix Labs Is Independent Once Again
The company is now self-owned and going private.
Canadian studio Phoenix Labs is no longer a part of Garena, a merger that saw Garena pay $150 million to acquire the Dauntless developer back in January of 2020.
According to GamesBeat, an investor-backed management buyout has occurred and Phoenix Labs founders plan on taking the company private as they look towards expanding into other markets. Specifically stated were mobile markets in Asia and South America.
Phoenix Labs' next game is Fae Farm, slated for a Q2 2023 release.
Terms of the buyout have not been disclosed at this time.
