Dark And Darker Delisted From Steam Following Nexon's Legal Action
Ironmace's offices were raided by Korean officials, although “nothing was found."
Dark and Darker has officially gone dark (for now at least), despite an upcoming scheduled public playtest on April 14. Developer Ironmace’s dungeon-crawler was recently delisted from Steam after having been served a cease and desist plus a DMCA takedown from Nexon.
"To all our fans, we have recently been served a cease and desist letter and DMCA takedown by Nexon regarding Dark and Darker based on distorted claims. We are currently working with our legal team to remedy this issue in the best manner possible. Due to the sensitive legal nature of this issue we must be careful with our statements so as to not jeopardize our position. We ask for your understanding as we work to get the game back up as quickly as possible. Please know that we will do all that is possible for our fans. Thanks!" reads a statement from the team on the Dark and Darker Discord.
Behind the decision are acusactions of stolen code and assets, accusations Ironmace previously denied. Almost half of Ironmace’s small team of 20 people is made up of former Nexon employees. Earlier this month, the indie developer’s offices were raided by Korean officials — “nothing was found though,” according to Ironmace.
