Dark And Darker Developer Ironmace Says It Did Not Steal Code And Assets From Nexon
The Dark and Darker developer claims everything was done in house.
Dark and Darker developer Ironmace is refuting claims that it stole assets and code from Nexon during a time when part of the team worked there.
According to GamesIndustry.biz, a developer named Terrence took to discord to state that all of their work on Dark and Darker was either developed in-house or purchased on the Unreal marketplace.
"Our code was built from scratch," Terrence said. "Most of our assets are purchased from the Unreal marketplace. All other assets and all game designs docs were created in-house. This has already been audited by an outside agency. As far as we know you cannot copyright a game genre."
Korean outlet YTN has reported that Nexon is suing Ironmace developers for theft of code and assets, while PC Gamer reported that members of the team were previously punished for taking design documents out of the office.
On the official Discord channel for Dark and Darker, it was said that Nexon's lawsuit was against one member and not the Ironmace team.
YTN is also reporting that authorities are currently investigating Ironmace.
