Warhammer can be an awfully dark place sometimes. That's a great place to set a novel or something that the consumer has to imagine... it isn't exactly the best when trying to convey that mood via visual images, you know, something video games do quite a bit of sometimes.
How do you convey dark and gritty without players actually not being able to see your game all that well? That's where graphic designers and 3D lighting techs (among many others) come in.
Warhammer 40K: Darktide is just days away now, prepping to release on November 30th. Today CTO and Co-founder Rikard Blomberg is taking you on a rather in-depth journey to see how the team balances light and dark, how they deliver on the mood for Warhammer, and how they work out a fine balance between the myriad of graphical options players have available to them.
