Current Crowfall Developer, Monumental, Acquires Sandbox Procedural Sandbox MMO Boundless
After four years in action, Boundless has found its “forever home”.
Boundless, the procedurally generated open-world sandbox MMO from Turbulenz Limited, is about to be under new management. Today Monumental, the current owner/developer of Crowfall, announced that it had acquired the game – just in time for its fourth anniversary, too.
For the past four years, Boundless has offered players a unique world without strict adherence to a specific path or storyline. Instead, players forge their own path and create their own legacy. They can choose to engage in trading and building, or politics is always an option for those looking for a bit more of a leadership role.
The transition of the game’s operation took place today without any disruption to service or the players. Players can continue to play on their platform of choice without having to do anything other than log in.
For Turbulenz Limited, this move feels like the right choice because, as they put it, their “dedicated community has found its forever home”. The company’s Director, James Austin, added that Monumental is “the ideal partner” due to “their deeply experienced team with a passion for games and track record for operating live games at scale.”
