Chaotic Alliance Raid XIV Launch

If you’re a Final Fantasy XIV player who just doesn’t have enough to do on Christmas Eve, the devs have you covered. Today, the MMORPG’s first Chaotic Alliance Raid, Cloud of Darkness went live this morning. Of course, surprising no one as it’s now midday, there have been clears and they’re available to watch on Twitch. In fact, I’m currently watching Mr. Happy’s recap of his clear, where he’s taking the time to explain things.

If you’re not one of the early raiders but want to get in on the action, you will need to have the following in order. First, complete your Dawntrail MSQ if you haven’t done so yet. Once that’s done, visit Tullyollal and talk to the Wandering Minstrel. He’s still standing there waiting to make your life more difficult than it already is.

After the raid is unlocked, you’ll need an item level of 710 or higher, and you’ll need eleven to twenty-three friends. Yeah, one of the big differences between the chaotic Alliance raid and a regular Alliance raid is that the Chaotic doesn’t technically require 24 players. It requires 2 tanks, 2 healers, and 4 DPS. That said, pre-formed alliances have to have 12 to 24 players and the difficulty is scaled for 24 players no matter what. On the upside, that also means that the rewards given for completing the raid don’t change based on party size.

On an additional note, players can actually earn additional rewards for completing the raid at specific times. A special icon will show up in the duty finder when the bonus is available.
