CCP Removes ‘Wisdom Of Gheinok’ Booster Item From Eve Online Foundation Day Pack Following Player Complaints
The booster was found to effect balance.
On Wednesday, CCP Games added a Foundation Day Pack to the Eve Online store, offering players SKINS, PLEX, SP, and other times. Among those items included was a booster titled Wisdom of Gheinok. This was a combat booster that was only available to players who purchased the pack and offered players several buffs – increased Energy Turret Damage, Armor Repair, and Max Velocity. It was designed to last for two days.
As one might expect, players took note of the item and discussions about this being a bad idea began. The good news is, it didn’t take too long for CCP to get the hint and remove the item. A post was shared on the forums by the game’s Publishing Producer, CCP Arcade announcing that the team had decided to pull the item, noting that “after listening to community feedback and consulting with the CSM”, they agreed that the booster skewed balance. The post went on to say that that effect wasn’t what they intended.
Because of this, the developers decided to remove the item from the MMORPG's Foundation Day pack so that it cannot be purchased going forward. However, those who already have it will not have it removed – which makes a bit of sense, as the players did purchase the pack believing the item was part of the deal.
