Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Beta Dates Unveiled
PlayStation players and pre-order customers get special treatment, but everyone gets to play eventually.
It’s about time we got another Call of Duty!
Activision has unveiled the dates for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer beta, offering folks a chance to play the shooter ahead of its release. This beta kicks off on October 6, exclusively on PS4 and PS5. Pre-order customers will enjoy two days of early access, while the beta will open to all PlayStation players on October 8. Then there’s a second beta weekend, running from October 12 to 16, for all platforms (with cross-play support). Early access will be granted to Xbox and PC pre-order customers, with a mid-beta entry for others.
The beta will include core maps from the 2009 Modern Warfare 2 and introduce new Ground War features. PlayStation Plus is also not required for participation, except for Germany due to age rating restrictions. (Sorry, Germans!) And Xbox players might need an Xbox Live “Core” subscription during the early access period of the second beta weekend. PC players will need a Battle.net or Steam account linked to a mobile phone number.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is slated for release on November 10 and serves as a direct sequel to the previous year's Modern Warfare 2. Sledgehammer Games is leading the development in collaboration with Infinity Ward, while Treyarch oversees the Zombies mode.
