Burning Heretics: Space Wolf Trailer Shows off the many weapons of a Space Wolf
Let's cut to the chase shall we? The first gameplay trailer released for the upcoming tactical card game Warhammer 40k: Space Wolf does the game little favors in the graphical "wow" department.
This was to be expected given we knew the game would launch as both a mobile and PC title. Plus, this is a game of tactics, and as we've experienced with games like Frozen Synapse or Card Hunter, simplified visuals don't always hinder great turn-based experiences. But given Games Workshop's recent track record for free-to-play games, its understandably why someone wouldn't be optimistic about Space Wolf.
Before we jump to any conclusions, let's hear out Space Wolf. The game promises viewers that, "Space Wolf will blend the grim, dark Warhammer 40,000 universe, collectable cards and turn-based tactical combat and will be free to play". Just don't mind the Christopher Nolan sounding backtrack, its entirely possible Space Wolf might offer something new in the sea of trading card games out there. If we're lucky, it might not have a play-to-win cash shop like Wrath of Heroes. Let's just hope the developer, Herocraft, can make something better than their last release.
The game is expected to be out in the first half of the year in 2014 on iOS, Android, PC and other platforms.
