Bungie To Vault Destiny 2’s Forsaken And Tangled Shore In February
The vaulting makes room for The Witch Queen Expansion and other content.
Bungie is preparing to vault more Destiny 2 content in preparation for the upcoming The Witch Queen expansion. The Destiny Content Vault (DCV) was introduced over the summer and since has allowed the development team more freedom to create new activities and content that otherwise would not have made it into the game just based on the sheer scale of the game. This gives the devs the ability to create new things with a bit more freedom, and players don’t completely lose the content. They just have to wait for it to cycle back.
When The Witch Queen expansion launches in February, it will be accompanied by the next season (the name of which Bungie still isn’t ready to reveal) as well as a collection of new content. At that time, they’ll also bring out some of the currently vaulted content – including a classic raid, two PvP maps from Destiny 2, and a classic PvP map from the original Destiny. This is when the Forsaken campaign and the Tangled Shore destination will be vaulted. The one exception is that The Dreaming City will still be available. Year 4 Seasonal content, including the Presage and Harbinger Exotic missions, will be vaulted as well. In exchange, players will receive the new Throne World destination and new features like weapon crafting, a new Legendary difficulty campaign option, and more.
Before the Forsaken campaign is vaulted, Bungie is giving players the opportunity to hop into it for free beginning December 17. So, if you haven’t had the chance to play it yet, that will be the time. Players will also be able to pick up a Forsaken Pack which includes access to the Last Wish Raid and the Shattered Throne dungeon as well as all the Exotics during this time.
