Bungie Celebrates Its Birthday With Destiny 2 Expansion(?) Teasers
Today is Bungie Day -- although Bungie would like to remind everyone that while it is the company's birthday, the whole Bungie Day thing was the community's idea. That said, Bungie did take advantage of the day to share a few things with their community -- such as a new Bungie Foundation charity project, a look at the newly launched mid-Season update, Bungie Store goodies, and...a teaser for coming news about the Future of Destiny 2.
The post itself doesn't provide any real information on that last thing, other than the image below and a request for players to join them on August 24 to find out more. That said, Engadget offered a few guesses about how the upcoming information will likely be about the 2022 expansion, "The Witch Queen". This guess is based on the image which contains a symbol linked to the Hive Witch Queen Savathun, also known as the "Queen of Lies". They also feel that her secondary titles are important as they would fit with the "survive the truth" tagline.
As for the rest of the post, probably the most important thing would be the new charity effort, the Giving Campaign. Between now and July 20 at 11:59 pm Pacific time, players can donate to the effort, which supports improving childrens' health, providing humanitarian aid, and helping to uplift the "voices and rights of all individuals and communities". Players who donate will receive special in-game items based on the amount of their donations -- beginning with a 2020 "The Bungie Foundation" emblem for $10 and ending with a "Tiny Tank" emote for $75 or more. (Donations at each tier will receive all the items available in the tiers below them.) There's even a cute balloon version of the Ghost Shell (seen above).
Bungie hopes to raise $777,000 by July 20 and have committed to having one of their community managers record a lore reading if they manage to hit $500k by July 14.
