Bungie Admits Destiny 2’s Trials Of Osiris Is “Simply Not Fun Or Rewarding,” See What's Changing

Or, at least players see it that way.

Destiny 2 Heresy Changes

Bungie is busy updating things before Heresy releases in Destiny 2. For the Crucible Strike Team, this means changes to PvP to make it more fun for players – particularly Trials of Osiris, which the team admits players find neither fun nor rewarding. To fix that issue before Heresy hits, the team is looking at three factors. First, the rewards, which the devs note have lacked in several areas such as new aesthetic rewards, particularly those that would appeal to high-skill players. They also note that the “weapon rewards have not consistently been best-in-class”.

The next issue noted is that the mode isn’t exactly fun all the time, particularly “at a high-stress level”. To address this, changes are being made to the Dominion game mode. The team is also working to adjust things so that Fireteam-based matchmaking doesn’t make playing with friends difficult. However, as adjusting this last thing in the wrong way could mess things up for solo players, they’re taking their time and don’t plan to roll those changes out until at least Heresy: Act II.

The current plan to improve rewards includes moving away from the “Flawless” system to a system that will reward players for their win streaks. This new system will have multiple tiers and exclusive rewards for those with higher streaks.

Bungie is also adjusting how the content will roll out in Heresy. This adjustment tries to strike a balance between dropping everything at once and rolling it out over time to encourage players to log in more frequently. Heresy’s story pacing will also be different from that of previous episodes in that there will not be a fixed length for each act.

More information on the changes coming with Heresy: Act 1 will be made available in the Destiny 2 dev stream on January 28. Until then, a post on the PvP changes is available on the shooter’s site, as is the latest This Week in Destiny.
