Build Forces Based On Your Favorite Units In Battle Aces, An RTS Game That's Expanding Beta Testing Tomorrow
I kind of dig the customization of forces here, but I need to see how long it takes to earn new units.
We've seen a nice little resurgence in real-time strategy games lately. A few of them, like Stormgate, sport staff that previously worked on iconic games in the genre like StarCraft and Warcraft. That's also the case with Uncapped Games' Battle Aces.
I many not be all that keen on the name of the game, but I admit, I am kind of intrigued with the combination of the kind of "deckbuilding" style of team construction and fast-paced RTS matches. Instead of playing a faction that defines your available units, I like the idea of building forces out of units I like and capitalizing on the synergies they may have with each other.
While Battle Aces has already started testing, things are about to ramp up. If you've been in previous tests, you can hop into the game right now. However, new invites will be sent out starting tomorrow, November 7th. If you're interested, make sure to sign up.
Being F2P, you may have questions on how the game will be monetized and Battle Aces' FAQ explains that about 50 units are planned for launch and while new units can be purchased, they can also be gained through gameplay. We'll have to see exactly how that works before we give it the "all clear," though. You will be able to pick the units you unlock through gameplay, though. It isn't done in a defined order, so that's nice.
As for content, the new beta will add the 2vsAI mode, multiple new units, a pretty typical daily and weekly battle pass system, and some new UI and personalization options. This all follows the plan of offering 2v2 ranked matches, 1v1 and 2v2 custom matches, and more at full launch.
