Book of Travels Developer Might And Delight Lays Off 25 of 35 Staff Members
Launch is "not going quite as well as we had hoped," soundtrack DLC offered for sale.
Self-described "Tiny Multiplayer Online RPG" Book of Travels has lived up to its billing, and not in a good way. Developer Might and Delight announced yesterday that the launch "not going quite as well as we had hoped," which has led to the staff head count being cut back from 35 all the way to 10.
Unsurprisingly, that means the pace of new content will be affected, but the company's founders assure fans that they remain committed to "surviving and bringing the best possible content to the game." Some of that content includes the Book of Travels soundtrack, which is available for free to Kickstarter backers or for $8.99 for all others. If you don't have the game already, you can buy both it and the soundtrack at a 12% discount, for $34.27.
Another unusual item that's being offered for sale is the Book of Travels Cup of Kindness, which goes for $1.99 and gives players ... well, nothing, other than "the warm feelings of helping out" the team. I'm not sure how I feel about a $2 "DLC" that's really just a donation, on top of a $30 game, but it looks like Might and Delight has garnered enough goodwill for it to work, at least on a limited basis.
