Blizzard Has A Lot Planned For Hearthstone’s 10th Anniversary In The Year Of The Pegasus
Expect three major expansions this year.
Yet another game is hitting the decade milestone. Today, the Hearthstone team announced quite a few things for their ten-year anniversary – which also happens to be the Year of the Pegasus in-game. According to the post, the Year of the Pegasus is a year-long celebration of the card game’s past and future, and players have plenty to look forward to over the coming months.
Aside from the typical anniversary stuff, giveaways, in-game events, and the like, players can also look forward to three expansions this year. The focus of each expansion will be revealed at a later time, but the post does include an image that might give players some hints. Also rolling out this year will be a new Core Set update that will bring back several cards from the game’s past.
To kick things off, the devs will be gifting each player with 12 special cards with the drop of Patch 28.6. These include one “gift” card for each class as well as a Harth Stonebrew card. All players need to do to get them is to log in.
Players will also be able to earn anniversary rewards beginning February 27. Simply complete the Events Rewards Track between then and March 19 to earn Golden versions of the “Gift” cards as well as a Birthday Coin. On the game’s official anniversary, players can also take on a Legendary Quest to get the 10-Year Anniversary card back.
If that’s not enough, players will also be able to take a walk down memory lane in March. Beginning March 1, only Legacy will be legal. March 2 will add Hearthstone’s first infusion cards, and so forth until the game is what it is today.
Also taking place in March is the next Community Day on March 11, where players can hang out with Hearthstone streamers and collect Twitch Drops. More details on the anniversary celebration are available on the Hearthstone site.
