Blizzard Entertainment Introduces Their First VP Of Head Of Culture
Maybe a new addition to the team can help push Blizzard in the right direction.
This week Blizzard Entertainment welcomes Jessica Martinez as their first Vice President, Head of Culture. Activision Blizzard is still under investigation by the state of California for serious harassment charges, and it would seem that this new hire is a step in the right direction in moving forward to finally create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace culture that has seemed to be lacking for some time over at Blizzard.
Martinez said herself that, “When you create a people-first environment where teams feel safe, valued, and work together toward a shared purpose, everyone thrives–the employees, the players, and the business.” Martinez and the Blizzard leadership team will be responsible for implementing Blizzard’s culture strategy, ensuring alignment across all teams and functions, and will also be working on revamping the learning and talent development programs.
Before Martinez joined the ranks at Blizzard, she worked for more than 14 years at the Walt Disney Company leading strategy communications, operations, and employee experience. Martinez certainly seems to have all the credentials and more needed to thrive in her new role as VP. Let’s hope that she can truly help “bring humanity back to business.” Not just for the sake of Blizzard, but for the employees who work there as well.
