World of Warcraft Mage Tower Returns

Good news, everyone! Well, if you're interested in this, it's good news anyway. Blizzard is bringing the Mage Tower back to World of Warcraft, and it's going to stay. The WoW team announced the return of the challenge, in which players travel to the Broken Isles and enter the tower at Deliverance Point in order to take on class-specific challenges in exchange for sweet rewards, is based on player feedback. Apparently, players felt that skill challenge content like the Mage Tower really doesn't work well as a sporadic event – which makes sense. As a result, the Mage Tower content will be available forever and ever beginning the week of March 29.

If you’re a player who hasn't already gained access to this content, the process isn’t too difficult. It will require a little traveling, however. Head to the Broken Shore on the Broken Isles and look for Deliverance Point. Once there, you can enter the tower and get to work on those challenges. There are seven encounters in all to accommodate for the game’s various specializations. That means you won't be facing all the challenges, just whichever one is appropriate for your class. For instance, Agatha the Imp Mother is the challenge boss for Elemental Shaman, Feral Druids, Fire Mages, Fury Warriors, Outlaw Rogues, and Unholy Death Knights.

If you take on the challenge and succeed, then there are rewards to be gained. Completing one challenge will earn a player a Legion-themed transmog and the achievement "A Towering Success". Guardian Druids will also get an extra bonus, the Druid Fel Werebear Form. Those who complete all seven challenges will earn the "A Tour of Towers" achievement, and the Soaring Spelltone mount. You can see that in action on the World of Warcraft blog.

In additional news, a familiar face will no longer be gracing the halls at Blizzard. World of Warcraft community dude and all-around good guy Josh Allen announced via Twitter yesterday that he is leaving the company for a new opportunity. Here's hoping for lots of good times in the future.

Note: Activision Blizzard is still under investigation by the state of California for serious harassment charges. CEO Bobby Kotick is alleged to have known about such actions within his company – and performed some himself – and shielded the perpetrators from consequences.
