Black Eye Games Announces Closure Of Gloria Victis, "Mostly Due To Financial Reasons"
Unfortunately, this also means the closure of the studio.
Eleven years into it’s run, Black Eye Games has announced that the latest Glory Season will be the last in Gloria Victis. This is because the game is closing. In what seems to be a very honest letter to the community, the developer notes that this decision is “mostly due to financial reasons”. The MMORPG is niche and they had difficulty expanding on it without losing what makes Gloria Victis...well...Gloria Victis.
Keeping the game up and running for eleven years was also a challenge based on manpower. Running an MMO with a fifteen-person staff is a hell of an endeavor. It meant almost always being on call for the staff.
Sadly, the developer made the decision to end the project. Players will be able to play through the last season, which will end as the servers close on October 31. This also means that the Black Eye Games studio will be closing as well. The post states that this will be happening over the next few months and that they’ll be doing everything they can to support the staff. They’re hoping to find them places at other studios.
