Battlefield 2042 Open Beta Kicks Off In Early October

You'll be able to get your hands on the newest iteration of the Battlefield franchise in just over a week, when Electronic Arts and DICE fling open the doors for the Battlefield 2042 open beta for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
The highlight of the beta will be the 64- (on PS4 and Xbox One) or 128-player (on all other platforms) Conquest experience on the Orbital map, as shown off in the game's trailer. The map is set in Kourou, French Guiana, and has players fighting over objectives while dealing with adverse weather, including a tornado. You'll have their choice of four specialists during the beta: an engineer, a sniper, a medic, and one described as "a Canadian outdoorsman and nomad who is equipped with a Grapple Gun."
Earlier this month, DICE covered how progression and cosmetics would work in Battlefield 2042, which follows a pretty standard formula: earn XP by fulfilling objectives and winning matches, and when you gain levels, new gear becomes available. You can also earn gear such as scopes for a gun by getting kills with that gun. Additionally, each player has a customizable player card that can display your player level, player icon and title, player card art, and up to three badges.
The open beta for Battlefield 2042 kicks off on October 6 for EA Play members and players who have pre-ordered the game, and on October 8 for everyone else. The beta runs until October 9. For more information, check out the Battlefield 2042 website.
