Battlefield 2042 Announces Dark Protocol Event With Limited-Time Killswitch Mode
The event includes a new 12v12 time-limited mode.
Battlefield 2042’s players are well into the game’s sixth season, so it’s time to add a little something extra to the shooter's mix. Today, the devs announced the Dark Protocol in-game event. This event runs for two weeks beginning October 31.
The event takes players to a secret R&D lab in the Hebrides, the Boreas facility. This facility has been taken over by its own AI technology, which has created AI-controlled soldiers, or Geists. Players will be taking control of these Geists in the new limited-time Killswitch mode.
The 12v12 mode is played across several maps: Redacted, Manifest, Hourglass, and Spearhead. In this mode, players can print up to 40 Geists for their team and use them to secure nodes. This doesn’t mean players won’t be fighting as well. They’ll still have to jump into the fray – in smaller and more exposed spaces. So, they’ll need to be prepared.
