Amidst Layoffs And Concerns Over The Future Of Paladins, Baron Samedi And Yemoja Join The Smite 2 Lineup
The first of the Voodoo and Yoruba Pantheons are added to the roster.
Two more gods have been added to Smite 2’s closed alpha. Baron Samedi of the Voodoo Pantheon and Yemoja of the Yoruba Pantheon are now available in Closed Alpha 3. Baron Samedi, the God of Life and Death, focuses on crowd control, healing, and damage over time, while Yemoja, the Goddess of Rivers, uses a special resource named Omi to cast spells focused on water.
In addition to the new gods, the Closed Alpha update has also implemented features intended to make the MOBA more beginner-friendly. This includes the addition of short tutorial videos and guides for the Arena and Conquest game modes. More guides will be added as time goes on.
These additions come as the company announced layoffs that "disproportionately" impacted marketing and publishing and a shift in focus to SMITE 2. While Kryptek, the associate game designer on Paladins, spoke out about the Paladins team and future development that is still being planned, player concern has been rising over the game's possible future.
