Auto-battling/Tower Defense Warcraft III Mod Legion TD 2 Gets Full Standalone Release
Eight factions to choose from in PvE, global multiplayer for PvP.
Former Warcraft III mod turned standalone game Legion TD 2 has launched on Steam following its time in early access. Over a decade in the making, the game mixes auto-battling with tower defense to become a "finely tuned competitive game of attack, defense and economy management for 1-8 players," developer AutoAttack Games said.
Featuring 2v2 and 4v4 matches, Legion TD 2 has competitive PvP with over 100 units to choose from, and an Elo ranking system and leaderboards to help you chart your progress. Global servers offer worldwide multiplayer, and there are weekly challenges to further hone your skills.
Legion TD 2 also offers a single-player campaign where players select one of eight factions and defend their lanes from hordes of onrushing NPCs. There's even an AI coach to give you guidance as you play.
On the one hand, we'd say that a mod for a 20-year-old game doesn't have much of a chance of achieving widespread success -- but then again, that's worked out pretty well in the past; twice, you might even say.
You can learn more about Legion TD 2 on its Steam page, where it normally retails for $19.99 but is on sale through October 8 for $15.99.
