ArenaNet Kicks In $3.6K To Help GW2 Player Whose Family Lost Its Home To Fire
How about some good gaming news for a change? Well, the story starts off badly, but has a decent end to it, thanks to ArenaNet.
Back in December, the Hunsucker family lost its home of 21 years -- and, sadly, its two pets -- to a house fire. In response, Lisa Taylor, who identifies the Hunsuckers as her mother, father, and sister, started a GoFundMe page to try and raise $5,000 to "help them raise enough money to pay several months up front on rent and other bills whenever they are ready to move to a new home."
Exactly one month after starting the GoFundMe, the total stood at $1,405 from 19 donations. The next donation? $3,595, enough to make the $5,000 goal. And it was offered up by Guild Wars 2 developer ArenaNet, as confirmed by Community Manager Rubi Bayer on Twitter:
I got to be part of something amazing today. https://t.co/Nu7A1HvYFP This kind of thing makes me so happy. I LOVE my job. https://t.co/HynoXmCyim

As you might expect, Taylor's not just a random person. According to her Twitter, she's been a Guild Wars/Guild Wars 2 player for over a decade, and ArenaNet decided to reward that loyalty, both with the donation and a care package of autographed merchandise. Good for them, and good luck to the family as it tries to rebuild.
