ArenaNet Is Extra Life’s 2022 “Partner Of The Year”
The company is being recognized for its extensive fundraising and other activities.
When it comes to charity, Extra Life is a staple in the gamer community. Every year developers, content creators, and the rest of the gaming community come together under the banner of Extra Life to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network. One company that participates year after year is ArenaNet, developer of the MMORPG Guild Wars 2.
Recently, Extra Life recognized the developer for their efforts, naming them the 2022 Extra Life Partner of the Year. This announcement was part of Children’s Hospitals Week. During this event, the organization awards Partner of the Year to “outstanding Strategic partners that have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through innovative fundraising and awareness initiatives”.
Of course, ArenaNet has raised quite a bit of money for the Children’s Miracle Network – including a total of $253,359 last year. This combined with their previous efforts amounted to a lifetime total of $855,526, but that’s not all they’ve done.
Last year, ArenaNet added Children’s Miracle Network Champion Child, April Arellano to Guild Wars 2 as an NPC. The NPC was voiced by Jennifer Hale and had a special questline that tied into the developer’s fundraising efforts. The company set stretch goals for last year’s fundraising that when hit would provide players with hints that would help them progress through April’s storyline.
If you’re wondering what a “Champion Child” is, it’s someone the Children’s Miracle Network hospitals select to serve as the face for children treated at their local hospital. The children then serve as ambassadors throughout the year, helping to bring awareness to the needs of children’s hospitals. More information can be found here.
On an additional note, a new update dropped in Guild Wars 2 yesterday. It includes updates to the Megaserver Map Queue Beta. Patch notes can be found on the Guild Wars 2 Forums.
