Apex Legends Sends Shockwaves With New Map, Revivals, And An AI Bot Battle Royale Training Mode
Light machine guns and Controller and Recon classes get new love, too.
Time for a new battle pass in Apex Legends! The shooter launches "Shockwave" in the battle royale today, but not every feature planned for the update will be available yet, some of them are coming a bit later this month.
First up, let's talk a new map. E-District becomes the 6th map of the Apex Games as the Syndicate has graciously decided to revamp the previously torn map into high-rises and vistas that introduce more verticality into matches than some previous maps. E-District is about the same size as the World's Edge map. To get to some of the heights in the map, take advantage of gravity launchers that will launch you to new locales.
You can snag a look at all the individual areas of E-District in a full blog post on the new map. E-District will be available in Pubs and Ranks for the first half of the season, along with Broken Moon and Storm Point.
Following up with new modes, we see the team add a new AI Bot Royale mode that'll let you get in some practice or just learn the ropes of Apex Legends with your squad taking on a battle royale (a bit smaller than normal) populated by bot opponents. Straight Shot Revival is also coming, but this is one of those things I mentioned that will come later this month. Starting on August 20th, Straight Shot makes its way back to the game, this time with the same revive mechanic added back in Trios Revival.
Finally, we come to class changes and Controllers and Recons are getting the most love here. Controllers get extra shields when they play in zone and you can now remotely pick up your undamaged Tacticals just by looking at them and pressing a button. Recons get threat vision when aiming down sights and survey beacons are faster to use, but now may have some range limitations.
Obviously, a new season comes with a new battle pass, bug fixes, and more. Roll into the patch notes while your client updates. You could also just check out the dev video and trailer below!
