Apex Legends Introduces Freedom Fighter Mad Maggie, Coming In Season 12
Also: LTM control-point mode and giveaways of three legends to celebrate third anniversary.
Defiance is back in the news. No, not the Trion/gamigo RPG shooter, but the next season for Apex Legends, which introduces a new legend and limited-time mode that should seem familiar.
The new legend is Mad Maggie, a freedom fighter who was sentenced to compete in the Games for her acts of sedition against the syndicate. There's no word yet as to what her abilities set will consist of, but given her attitude and her "crimes" from her introductory video trailer, we'd wager that she's more heavily geared toward attack than defense.
Also on the horizon for Season 12 is the new Control LTM, which pits teams of nine, with infinite respawns, against each other as they battle to take control of various points on the map. In other words, it's your standard control-point PvP mode, which fits the description of what Game Director Chad Grenier described last year as going "beyond battle royale" but might seem a little derivative of other games.
The Season 12 launch will roughly coincide with Apex Legends' three-year anniversary, and as such Respawn is gifting players with bonus rewards just for logging in during the season's first three weeks. These include the legends Octane, Wattson, and Valkyrie, as well as three thematic packs, for each of the first three weeks from February 8 to March 1. Details regarding the login rewards can be found on the Apex Legends site.
