Apex Legends: Eclipse Launches November 1 With New Map
The zip rail system will be sure to add an extra layer of fun come Season 15.
Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends: Eclipse will feature a brand new map, a cybernetic battle pass, a new fierce defender, Catalyst, and a new zip rail system that will have players using it for escape, or to get a leg up on their opponents.
The new map, Broken Moon, will join other pre-existing maps like Kings Canyon, World’s Edge, Olympus, and Storm Point when Apex Legends Season 15 launches on November 1. Apex Legends’ World Director Ed Agostini and Lead Level Designer Jeff Shaw spoke about Broken Moon during a recent developer panel. The main theme will be designed around heaven and hell. While most would think of fire and Ice, this theme has been used in Apex Legends before, and it's for that reason the team decided to go in a different direction.
“...with heaven and hell we have the beautiful side which was inspired by Monet paintings, and we were always looking at that kind of pastel soft look with pink skies and lily pads – you’ll find a lot of that in our bionomics section near the atmosphere factories,” explained Agostini.
Broken Moon is “slightly larger” than World's Edge. That, coupled with the new zip rail system should allow teams to cover large distances quickly and make each game feel different and not too repetitive from match to match.
