Apex Legends Adds Third Studio To Help Develop The Shooter's Next "10-15 Years"
When a game rakes in billions, it's easy to see why you want to plan out another decade plus.
When your popular free-to-play shooter makes literal billions, it isn't exactly hard to see why the company behind the game would want to try and keep that gravy train rolling for the next decade and a half.
Respawn Entertainment is eyeing up that future for Apex Legends and feeling like they need a little more help. The answer? Open up a third development studio based in Madison, Wisconsin, of course! Ryan Burnett, formerly from Call of Duty's Raven Software, has been given leadership of the new studio and while it may work on new projects in the future, for now the studio will be focused on helping to support content development for Apex Legends.
CEO of Respawn Vince Zampella told GamesIndustry.biz, "Team health is absolutely a top priority for us because we're in this for the long haul. We believe in Apex as a franchise that's going to be around for 10, 15 years or more and we're excited to make that happen," while also noting that more studios could be coming should the team need to do so to keep Apex on its content schedule without buring their own teams out.
